For
the 1999 British Superbike Championship MYCO MOTORSPORT ran two riders on
Kawasaki ZX7RR bikes tuned and prepared by Dave Hammond Racing of Dover.
These
machines were formerly owned and raced by Ray Stringer but still have
considerable life in them yet!
SO NEAR, SO CLOSE.
Riders DAVE HEAL and DAVE
WOOD ran well throughout the season, lying 2nd and 3rd for most of the
year before finally finishing 2nd and 5th.

Paul Young on Ray Stringers Yamaha R7 just held Dave Heal off for the
title, but it went right to the last race. Heal managed 5 wins during the
year but Young's 11 was just too tall an order to beat.
Woody had a very bad end to
the year following a crash and the death of his father which meant he did
not compete in the last 6 races and finished 5th in the series because of
it.
MASSIVE CRASH!
Veteren
of 14 years Racing, DAVE HEAL had a massive 150mph crash in round 3 at
Thruxton in which he knew was going to die! He was amazed to find he was
still awake when everything came to a stop.
'it's clearly the
grace of God' said Aden Murcutt, team owner.
With the passage of time,
both Daves got faster and faster on the MYCO kawasaki's and was clear that
Mr Heal became a thorn in the flesh of quite a few other riders as he made
his way to the rostrum 18 times in the year!
